Who is Emily Barley?
As Deputy Chairman Political, in 2021 Emily created and led Rotherham Conservatives campaign strategy, which emphasised knocking on doors and talking to people over everything else. She believes that talking to people on the doorstep is the only way to truly understand what's going on in Rotherham and what local people want the Conservatives to do. She is delighted that the strategy paid off, with a new group of Conservative Councillors elected.
Emily has been a self-employed communications and public affairs consultant for over five years, working with a range of different kinds of clients. Her work includes building websites and managing social media, ghost-writing articles for politicians, producing research papers on different policy issues, and developing campaign strategies.
Her political experience includes volunteering on every election and referendum campaign for over a decade, standing in council elections three times, and standing for Parliament once - as the Conservative candidate for Wentworth and Dearne in December 2019. She also runs the campaign group Due Process, and is chairman of Conservatives for Liberty.
When she's not busy with work or politics, you can find Emily in the garden, working on her veg patch, or walking in the beautiful countryside surrounding her home in Wentworth.
